The Mechanical Engineer will be part of the Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing team at SVTA, developing designs for new and legacy products by creating SolidWorks models and guiding projects through design and manufacturing. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and proficiency with SolidWorks, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. The position also requires a willingness for occasional domestic and international travel in support of project installations.

Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer will be a part of the Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing department at SVTA, and assist by taking existing or conceptual designs of new or legacy products, creating SolidWorks models of the product, and overseeing the project through design and manufacturing. The successful candidate will have good mechanical aptitude, be detail oriented, have a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to quality, be proficient with SolidWorks, and be a team player.
Job Description:
- Interface with Sales and Marketing to produce designs/images for project proposals
- Work directly with Engineering to create designs and SolidWorks models of projects
- Create bill of materials (BOM) and detailed drawings for machined parts, sheet metal, and assemblies
- Follow the BOM through purchasing, assisting and advising where applicable
- Provide hands on support to the assembly technicians during the build and testing phase of the project
- Possible domestic and international travel for the purpose of project installations
- In addition, will help ensure that company operating and cost efficiencies are obtained, quality and safety standards achieved, and customer delivery deadlines met.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- College degree in an engineering related field or associates degree in drafting design. In addition, three to five years drafting experience preferred.
- Drafting and design skills with metal machining and fabrication. Experience with vacuum equipment a plus
- Proficient computer skills, including SolidWorks, Windows, Word, and Excel
- Proficient with both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional design and drafting
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- High attention to detail and results
- Mechanical and technical skills and knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Teamwork skills
- Able to follow directions, yet work with limited supervision.

Physical/Visual/Mental Demands:
Position requires the ability to react, move about, install, remove and replace objects, exchange information verbally, detect and observe situations; lift and move 10-25 pounds; work with others; test equipment, and computer; near and far vision is required; works with mechanical and electrical devices; infrequently works with chemicals and toxins utilizing protective gear.
Typical Working Conditions:
The person in this position will work inside; normal work hours are Monday through Friday and vary between 6:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M.; additional hours may be required during the week or on weekends. Regular attendance is required.
Nature of Supervision Received:
Works independently within authority limits and experience level. Must establish priorities and independently set daily objectives to meet deadlines and address urgent situations as they occur.

SVT Associates is seeking a Mechanical Assembler to become part of our team!
Position involves all aspects of the assembly process for products ranging from systems to precision mechanical components. Tasks include but are not limited to: pulling parts from inventory, cleaning parts, assembling, testing, product repairs, and shipping. Assemblers work directly with the Engineering group and will be required to determine and/or follow methods of assembly. Excellent mechanical aptitude is required, and a background in mechanical hand assembly is preferred.

About the Role
We are seeking a Components Assembler to join our manufacturing team supporting advanced molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and ultra-high vacuum (UHV) equipment. This role involves hands-on assembly of precision mechanical components used in research and production environments where accuracy, cleanliness, and efficiency are critical.
This position is well suited for someone who enjoys building complex hardware, takes pride in craftsmanship, and works efficiently in a time-billed manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble precision mechanical components and subassemblies for MBE and UHV systems
- Read and interpret 3D CAD drawings and mechanical documentation
- Select correct parts, fasteners, and materials from organized inventory bins
- Perform fine manual operations, including winding and forming tungsten wires
- Maintain high standards for cleanliness, accuracy, and workmanship
- Work efficiently and consistently while tracking time against job orders
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to resolve assembly questions
- Follow documented procedures and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Required Qualifications
- Experience in precision mechanical assembly or a similar technical manufacturing role
- Ability to confidently read and interpret 3D mechanical drawings
- Strong mechanical intuition and problem-solving ability
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination
- High attention to detail when working with small, delicate components
- Comfortable working in a time-accountable environment
- Ability to follow processes while recognizing when something “doesn’t look right”
Preferred Experience (Not Required)
- Experience with UHV systems, vacuum hardware, or semiconductor equipment
- Familiarity with cleanroom or contamination-sensitive assembly
- Experience working from SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms
- Light machining – drill press, manual mill and lathe operation
